It Must Be Sunday

You know how I said I would be back after my vacation with shiny new posts? Well that was mostly true but then being on an airplane filled with recycled germ air made me sick so I've been mostly sleeping for the last two weeks. Long story short, NOW that I am (mostly) healthy, I am back with shiny new posts.

I'm trying out this new thing where I post more frequently (on food, DIY, and other sundries) and fill your RSS feeds with fun and sassiness on a regular basis. Today is the first Sunday installment-- we'll see how it goes.

First of all, a wee update. I went to Maui for a week and if you follow me on Instagram you were inundated with annoyingly tropical beach/awesome food photos for an entire week. For this I apologize (no I don't).

While I'm usually a terrible beach-layer-oner, I was so exhausted from the previous month that I was happy as a little clam to lay around in the sun, going on walks, reading, listening to music and eating delicious food. I was able to make it through two books (Wild by Cheryl Strayed and Stardust by Neil Gaiman) on my Towering Book List in the week and start on a third (Little Women by Louisa May Alctott)! Since getting home I've also made it halfway through The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and am LOVING it. Still working on how to post the book list in it's entirety but stay tuned for that.

It was an awesome trip and I was totally able to de-stress from the massive stress-bomb that was January. We stayed in a VRBO condo which was amazing and I can't say enough lovely things about it. So comfortable and the location in Kehei made our whole trip super simple. Which sort of brings me to another exciting tidbit which is that I was accepted to the University of Washington's Museology grad program! Woohoo! I'm still waiting on a decision from Georgetown so no final choices have been made but it's good to know that no matter what, I'm gonna be a full time student again soon!

With all the craziness at work, vacation and being sick, I haven't made much headway lately on the movie list but I did watch the Oscars and really only came away with two things

  1. Wow, award shows are boring!
  2. John Legend can do no wrong (because, A- Glory is a stunning song, and B- THAT SPEECH)

And now I shall leave you with some awesome stuff from the Internets:

  • Dr Eugenie Clark is a badass scientist researching sharks. Yep
  • Awesome hip-hop lady-duo THEESatisfaction's interview with BITCH magazine --they are super inspiring AND from Seattle
  • If you missed it, Leonard Nimoy's lovely final tweet. LLAP, Mr Spock.

Let me know what you think about this kind of weekly roundup of fun stuff-- don't worry, there will still be plenty of crafty/foodie/makin stuff posts! Variety is the spice of life people. If you can't get enough (you know that's right), follow me everywhere else on the internet!
