This past weekend I went camping with my roommates at Sol Duc in the northern part of the Olympic National Forest. The weather was beautiful and we got in some great hiking, campfire-sitting and marshmallow-eating. I've always loved camping (my family did a LOT when I was growing up) especially on the Olympic Peninsula, and this only whet my appetite for more! Here are some of my favorite shots from the weekend.
Things we forgot/need to bring:
- Books-- there is way more sitting around in grown-up camping than when I was a kid
- Cribbage-- for reasons
- Battery music player-- I cannot even express how much I want this one
- The camp stove-- I was stubborn and was all gung-ho about only doing coals and open flame but DAMN it took a long time for the coffee to be ready. It also would have been nice to have some hot water for washing. So next time I will bring it because sometimes you just need it.
Didn't get any pics of Saturday night's dinner because we started the Lover's Lane loop later in the day than planned and HAD to visit the Sol Duc Hot Springs after the hike (duh). Consequently we cooked most of the dutch oven BBQ ribs, "hobo" potatoes and grilled peaches in the dark. Totally worth it though.
After all of this R&R, I'm feeling some sweet crafty posts coming on... brace yourselves for body butters and all manner of mason jar crafts. Hit me up here, via email (Bettybetatester@gmail.com) & on the social media for questions, comments, and suggestions for future posts!
