Be My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Usually I am a grumpy troll and refuse to celebrate a holiday devoted to contrived romance and buying crap no one really wants or needs. This year, however, I am totally in the spirit of love and whatnot because yesterday Gov Christine Gregoire signed gay marriage into law in Washington state. Something I am infinitely proud of and as such will be celebrating the hell out of this Valentines Day.

With COOKIES!

I did your standard Better Homes and Gardens sugar cookie recipe and added purple sprinkles before baking. After the cookies were cooled, I put them in cellophane treat bags from the crafts store.

Then came my favorite part... the tags! I love scrapbooking like the Midwest loves mayonnaise, and making tags and cards is a socially acceptable way for a crafty 25-year-old to scrapbook.

I used paper and bits that I already had to create cute vintage-y tags, most were food-themed. I used the "Love Me Do" paper collection from Mind's Eye and elements from "Early Bird: Apron Strings" from Cosmo Cricket. I rounded the corners with my nifty corner-rounder and punched a hole in each one with my crop-a-dile (don't judge me, it can put holes through a cookie sheet and sets eyelets perfectly).

And tah-dah! Gay Marriage Cookies!

In other news, I am now on Pinterest, loosing what little free time I had. If you want to see all the things that inspire me visually, click here!

I'm cooking up some pretty great ideas for new posts... so stay tuned! As always, I love comments and feedback so if there is something you'd like to see, let me know.

As you may or may not know, Jess and I have been absent from the market due to interference from our day-jobs but we hope to be back very soon. We will also be bringing with us our dear friend Allysa Thompson, a phenomenal glass painter! Can't wait!
